Dr. Keisha Bean is a Licensed Psychologist. She holds a Bachelors from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a Masters and a PhD from Tennessee State University. She completed her internship at the University of Cincinnati Counseling Center and her post-doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University Division of Community Mental Health/Psychiatry.
During the past 15 years, she has provided an full range of psychological services to adults and adolescents. Currently, Dr. Bean provides psychotherapy services to adults, couples and adolescents. She has specific training in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, trauma-related disorders, self-esteem issues and in adjustment/transitional issues for persons of all ages. In addition, she is trained to provide services for young adults with developmental challenges and for their families.
Dr. Bean particularly enjoys working with clients to develop self-care and wellness plans as an adjunct to their behavioral health care plan.
Dr. Bean’s approach to treatment is dependent on the client’s needs. She is active rather than passive in sessions with her clients. Her therapeutic approach is always collaborative in which she and her client function as a team to resolve the presenting problem.
Dr. Bean’s treatment approach varies with the needs her clients. When providing services, she draws from a wide range of modalities; including, Interpersonal, CBT, Experiential and Solution focused approaches.
Dr. Bean enjoys spending time with her family, traveling (especially to places with beaches), reading mysteries, cooking and watching old television shows. Her favorite quote is from Mary Engelbreit, “If you don’t like something, change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it”.
